ITALIAN MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

Reshaping Civil Justice Through Digital Transformation in Italy

Needs

Italy runs one of Europe’s most complex judicial systems with over 1,000 offices, 4,500+ civil judges, 240,000 lawyers, and 760,000 auxiliaries. In 2022 alone, 1.44 million first-instance civil cases were filed, that is 2.44 per 100 inhabitants. A regulatory framework 10 times larger than those of France, Germany, and the UK combined, creating significant inefficiencies, made digital transformation urgent to streamline processes and improve access to justice.
